Gmail Video FAQ - Common Questions Answered

What size should I use for Gmail video attachments?

This preset defaults to 25 MB (25,000,000 bytes). Personal Gmail accounts allow up to 25 MB of attachments in one message, combined. Choose a smaller target with Customize size if you are adding other files or the recipient has a smaller limit. Workspace limits can differ.

What happens if my attachments exceed Gmail's limit?

Gmail can replace attachments that exceed its limit with a Google Drive link. To send a direct attachment instead, compress or trim your video and keep the combined attachment size within your account's limit. This tool checks the video file's actual bytes, not your entire email or the recipient's limits.

Are my videos uploaded to Gmail or Localsquash?

No. Compression runs locally in your browser. Download the result and attach it to Gmail yourself. Files that already fit the size budget can be kept unchanged.

What video format does the Gmail compressor produce?

Compressed videos use H.264 MP4 with AAC audio when present. Resolution is automatic and never upscaled. Use Customize size for trimming and other settings; your selected video stays available in the same tab.
